Torre Lavelle

Torre is a PhD student in the Department of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases in the Yale School of Public Health and a Verena Institute Lighthouse Scholar. Her interests lie at the intersection of climate change, emerging infectious diseases, and biodiversity loss, with additional projects exploring issues in global health surveillance and governance. Prior to graduate study at Yale, Torre served as interim Chief of Staff at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy and was on the founding team of the Columbia Climate School. She holds an MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation, and Management from the University of Oxford and a Master in Global Affairs from Tsinghua University, where she was a Schwarzman Scholar. Passionate about public service and mentorship in the sciences, she serves on the Udall Alumni Association Board and as a regional Girl Scout Gold Award Committee member. (she/her)
