Yale University

Collin Schwantes is a Data Scientist and Data Librarian working with the Verena Institute. He works with investigators to support and expand Verena's open data infrastructure, develop software and culture that facilitate open science, and provide analytical support for disease ecology projects. Prior to joining Verena, he was the Data Librarian at Ecohealth Alliance, where he worked to make FAIR, reproducible, and open science the norm by building organizational strategies, developing software, creating learning materials, and directly supporting research projects with data and analytical tasks. While working for Accenture Federal Services, he was the Data Science Craft Lead in their Discovery Lab and a Biosurveillance Scientist with the National Biosurveillance Integration Center. Collin earned his master’s degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Colorado where he studied the community ecology of bees in agricultural landscapes. He holds a B.S. in Biology and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin. When not in front of a computer, he enjoys being in the mountains, cooking, and board games.
